Senate Bill 530 Submitted For Film & Entertainment

Senator Gruters of Sarasota has submitted Senate Bill 530 for the Florida Senate to consider for 2020. The plan is for a targeted rebate plan that would have the oversight of the Commissioner of Film and Entertainment and be within the Department of Economic Opportunity.

The purpose of the program is to boost the state's economic prosperity by:
  • Creating high paying jobs
  • Broadening the film, television and digital media industry's impact on the state by giving modest bonus for projects that take place in underutilized areas
  • Enhancing tourism by choosing projects that encourage tourists to visit state
  • Encouraging family friendly projects to be produced in the state
