The next Tampa Film Review, presented by 1 Day Films, will be held on Friday, September 8 from 8 – 10 p.m. at International Bazaar, located at 1600 E. Eighth Ave. in the Centro Ybor Complex. Tampa Film Reviews is a free monthly showcase of local independent films and is held every second Friday of the month.
This month's films include:
Showdown at Billy Goat Tavern by Bryan Leighty: A short action figure animation where two worlds collide. Only one can be victorious.
Farewell Frieda by Griffowers Productions: Shot in non-conventional methods, a creepy silent film about a girl, her doll, and her unemployed uncle's plunge into alcohol driven insanity.
Failure by Chris Suchorsky: A life long dream of making a feature film turns into a comedic disaster for a New Jersey filmmaker.
The Magic Wand Series by Sean Michael Davis: Two independent shorts revolving around the concept of a magic wand and what normal people would really do once they have one.
Karaoke Kid 1 & 2 by Pete and Paul Guzzo: Two Karate Kid spoofs about a kid who relocates to Tampa with dreams of joining the city choir, only to be violently rejected again and again. 1 Day Films opens their vault and showcases two of their first ever short films produced close to seven years ago.
No Show by the Damage Control Comedy Crew: A TV comedy satire of TV done in the style of Groove Tube and Amazon Women on The Moon. Sketch, Parody and shorts wrapped around a fake 1950 sci-fi movie.
1 Day Films is looking for film submissions for future events. For more info, email pete@tooprod.com or paulguzzo@hotmail.com. All genres of short films are accepted –documentaries, comedy, horror, love, art, drama, foreign language, experimental etc. No pornography!
