Performers Wanted For BookPals
(released 8/17/2006)
By greenroomwire

BOOKPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) is a unique volunteer program comprised of professional actors and performers who read aloud to children, helping to introduce them to the wonderful world of reading and literacy.

Founded in Los Angeles in 1993 by Barbara Bain (Mission Impossible), BOOKPALS now has 12 chapters throughout the country. Illiteracy is a major problem throughout this country and performers are uniquely qualified to help. The direct connection between children listening to stories being read aloud and the development of their own skills has been established. Children must be exposed to the magic of books to develop a love of reading. Who better to make that magic come alive than you, an actor gifted in the art of storytelling?

To learn more about BOOKPALS and how you can get involved, please contact Natalie Rogers at 321-229-0638 or florida@bookpals.net. Visit www.bookpals.net for more information. BOOKPALS is a program of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, a non-profit organization.
