Coffee House Film Review

The next Coffeehouse Films and Florida Film Networking event will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 7 p.m. at The Buzz, located at 710 Harbour Post Drive on Harbour Island. It is held every second Thursday of the month.

This monthly film festival is dedicated to showcasing local independent short films. It has won two Best of the Bay Awards for its impact on the local independent film scene.

This month’s films include:


The Ladybug by Mici Falvo and Evan Smith: A hostage situation provides a look inside the mind of a law enforcement officer and the difficult choice he makes every day of his life. – 5 minutes

Devil’s Canyon by Acid Cowboys Productions: Amidst the harsh landscape of the Old West, an ex-tracker is knocked out along a river bank only to awaken to find his beautiful wife brutally murdered. When he discovers boot prints near the fatal scene, he sets out to find her assailant, at any cost. A contemplation on loss, love, revenge, and survival, this is Devil's Canyon. – 27 minutes

Murphy Elliott, Master Painter by David Harris: Murphy Elliott's futuristic oil paintings can be found winning awards in international art contests, featured in space magazines and adding color to the National Space Society's website. But in Plant City Florida, they know him as one of the best house painters in town. This documentary takes us into Murphy's everyday, through his amazing portraits and past the stars to our future. - 15 minutes
