(released 1/16/2005)
By Douglas Lorah

Seeking the world's finest local, regional and cable television advertising and non-broadcast film and video productions, the Telly Awards announced on Thursday, January 13th its worldwide call for entries for its 26th annual competition. The deadline for submissions is March 4.

Since 1978, the Telly Awards have set the standards for the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting, recognizing and supporting creativity.

Last year, the Tellys received over 10,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents, representing the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. Individual entries do not compete against each other, but are judged against a historical standard of excellence based on over 25 years of evaluating creative work.

With a history spanning over a quarter of a century, the coveted Tellys are one of the most respected and prestigious awards in the industry. Last year's winners ranged from local agencies and smaller production companies to multinational corporations, and included J. Walter Thompson, Delta Airlines, Soapbox Studios, Fry Hammond Barr, McCann-Erickson, MSNBC, Comcast Spotlight, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sesame Workshop and Y&R.

Telly Award submissions are accepted for television commercials in categories including Local TV, Local Cable, Regional TV and Multi-Market Cable, as well as for film/video productions in categories including Non-Broadcast Productions, TV Programs, Segments and Promotional Pieces. For a complete list of categories and submission requirements, please visit www.tellyawards.com.

Telly Award Winners are awarded with a "Silver Telly" statuette, the program's highest honor. Telly Award Finalists are awarded a "Bronze Telly" statuette. R. S. Owens, the company that makes the Oscar and the Emmy, designed and hand-makes every Telly statuette. The Telly Awards are overseen by a prestigious judging panel accomplished industry advertising professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly. Upholding the historical standard of excellence that a Telly represents, judges evaluate entries to recognize distinction in creative work.
